La Crosse Girlchoir History
The La Crosse Girlchoir was organized as the Three Rivers Girls’ Chorus in 1987; ten years later it was re-named the La Crosse Girlchoir. Girls ages 7 through high school come together to share a common love of singing and expression through song while receiving expert instruction in vocal technique, music theory, sight reading as well as performance etiquette and poise. All of the young ladies are held to high expectations with an emphasis on self-discipline and commitment to all rehearsals, concert venues, and tour locations.
Who We Are Today
The La Crosse Girlchoir is comprised of a Touring and a Concert Choir; the girls represent many public and private schools in the Greater La Crosse Area.
Through audition and interview girls are placed in the appropriate choir determined by many factors including age, musical ability, maturity, and performance experience. Repertoire includes classical, religious, folk and popular works. Audiences have praised the girls’ performances as well as their positive character and self-confidence.
The Concert Choir is a preparatory choir that focuses on the foundations of healthy and correct singing, sight-reading, theory and group singing. The Touring Choir is an advanced group emphasizing the same skills at a higher level.
