The La Crosse Girlchoir was founded in 1986 as the Three Rivers Girls
Chorus. In the summer of 1997 the chorus became The La Crosse Girlchoir. Forty to seventy-five singers, ages 7 through high
school, are selected by audition and placed in either the Touring Choir or the Concert Choir. The Concert Choir is our preparatory
choir and they are given instruction in voice, sight-reading, theory and group singing. The Touring Choir is an advanced group
emphasizing the same musical skills at a higher level. Members represent many public and private schools in the greater La
Crosse area. The Touring Choir has a longer rehearsal time and tours both nationally and internationally. A diverse repertoire
of high quality musical literature for treble voices integrated with basic skills of music theory, ear training and vocal
technique are part of the curriculum. Each chorister also attends a week long workshop during the summer months that stresses
vocal solo performance techniques with a solo and/or ensemble recital.
Crosse Girlchoir welcomes girls of all ethnic, economic, and religious backgrounds. Scholarships are available. Fundraising
opportunities allow each girl's earnings to be allocated to their individual accounts.
Rehearsals are scheduled on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-8:30 for the Touring
Choir and 6:00-8:00 for the Concert Choir. Each month there is also one Saturday workshop from 9:00-12:00. Rehearsals are
at Viterbo University of Fine Arts.
The LaCrosse Girchoir presents a summer workshop for girls ages 7 through
high school. The workshop is for girls interested in vocal music from beginers to experienced performers. The team of directors
works with the girls on vocal performance techniques and each girl will particapate in the recital which is held at the end
of the workshop week. Meet new friends and spend a week with the LaCrosse Girlchoir. Check our Calendar of Events for specific
dates and times for our Summer Workshops.
